Dada, the Psychic door opens slowly, correct? Is the contact also established step by step? As I understand it, the fire doesnβt suddenly burn; it’s in the Ignition state, correct? How does one keep that balance, if one wants to keep more and more contact with The Psychic Being? For that is Life that is the Ultimate Truth.β¨ππͺπ¦’
How does the body react and I remember in one of your talks you spoke about how cautious we have to be in the beginning because itβs really important at the starting phase. And I had read a note of The Mother that the contact is not spontaneous, so it’s not easy. So, until that concrete establishment is made, what and how should one be, or how to behave, or just be in general in your life? Because the contact keeps coming and going.
The psychic contact, as well as the contact with the higher planes of consciousness, is invariably a gradual process because of the need for the rest of our nature to adapt to the new consciousness with which we are coming into contact. However, of these two, the contact with the psychic being is easier and safer as it almost invariably brings love, devotion, bhakti for the Divine Mother. However, during the inner journey, one encounters various planes and states of consciousness that may distract and even at times, derail the process. The risk is especially higher if there is a strong sexual desire or ambition. The consciousness may then enter the Intermediate Zone, where truth and falsehood are terribly mixed and misleading states or even visions and voices can mislead the seeker. The body as such is the last to be impacted by misleading forces, but a sense of restlessness in the body or in our psychological being is a sign of caution. There may also rise up aggrandizing thoughts that feed the ego in the name of the Divine, or impulses of speech and action that the mind justifies.
It is for this reason that all genuine spiritual paths recommend certain psychological disciplines to prepare oneself rightly before jumping inwards. These are the various purification processes that one needs to undertake, especially cultivation of certain attitudes such as humility and sincerity, the practice of endurance and equanimity, the habit of vigilance, calling the Mother’s Name inwardly and the practice of surrender of results and acceptance of the Divine Will in one’s life. All this takes time and life gives us several opportunities for the same.
Yes, everyone starts with a mixture of the lower nature and its demands. It is not possible to pluck them out at once. One has to first practice moderation and bring in the control of reason. The vital parts with its demands and desires has to be gradually tamed and disciplined, taught to delay and postpone gratification, apply the ethical sense to prevail over unbridled emotions and desires. Then one becomes steady and stable to pursue the Divine Goal. Love, bhakti, surrender make it easier, but still, the challenges from the ego and the deception of the desires continues for a while.
It takes time to be prepared. This doesnβt mean that one waits till the basic purification is over. We start with all its baggages, impurities and imperfections on the great journey towards the Divine, keeping the flame of faith and aspiration in the heart, with surrender as the most important aid for the journey. A growing sincerity as we advance is the other necessity. One goes through the various challenges of life, facing them with inner detachment and equanimity. The growth of inner Peace and Quietude, a quiet inner joy and strength, the growth of love and devotion are the signs that we are on the right track.Β
Affectionately,
Alok Da
