AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

How does one understand the language of dreams? Do you feel that this is a gift bestowed by grace—one that, if mastered, could be utilized to further one’s own spiritual practice and in the service of the Mother? I feel that in my dreams, I am able to perceive the hidden truths lying behind the masks people wear—yet, I am unable to fully comprehend them.💤💭🌙🛌

Yes dreams have a language of their own. It is with practice that one begins to decipher them. Of course there are a lot of dreams that are like the useless chatter of people, random impressions that come up in sleep, or suppressed emotions and twisted wishes that the mind throws up in forms. Mind can easily do it because it is the primary form maker. These have hardly much significance except for showing us what we have suppressed within.

But there are some dreams that rise from deeper subliminal parts where some work is going on or come down from the higher realms indicating the future trying to manifest. These help us understand ourselves better, aid in the working of the benevolent cosmic forces, or deflect the action of the darker forces, even preventing sometimes an imminent catastrophe. The language is largely symbolic with images that convey meanings, for instance, mountains for physical ascension, trains for journey, airplanes for swift transitions etc. There are both traditional and modern symbols that one can learn.

But understanding others is a little tricky subject. Our mind and emotions are often coloured and biased in certain ways. We often project and see in others a shadow of our own desires. Besides judging others is a terrible business. It is best to see the Divine in all but act according to the truth of the Divine unfolding within us. Our actions should not be guided by what others are or feel and think about us, but by what we ourselves sense as the impulsion of Truth within our inmost heart.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

This is an alternate version which is clearly suspect. The original story is clearly symbolic of the triple forces of Nature, Sattwa, Rajas and Tamas, the three chariots of three asura brothers, notably of gold, silver and iron. The three modes of nature are never aligned. If and when aligned, the Asuras die and the Self is liberated. To do that …

I hear alot that Christian missionaries have a big presence in Andhra Pradesh, India. They are meant to be very rich. What did Sri Aurobindo and Mother say about Christian missionaries and how to manage them?👣🕊️⛪☀️

The Mother and Sri Aurobindo laughed at the stupidity of religous conversions. They saw Religion as a spent force which is destined to be overpassed by the growing spiritual impulse in man. The upsurge of conversions, whatever its temporary success is destined to fail. The evolving human soul cannot be satisfied for long in any …
