AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

What is the spiritual meaning of a dream where a persistent, fluffy white kitten refuses to leave your room, and does this symbolize the need for a “baby cat” attitude of total surrender, especially in the context of struggling with lower nature resistances and relapses? πŸŒ€πŸ¦„πŸ’€πŸˆβ˜οΈπŸ•ŠοΈ

In recent days, I have been struggling with the resistance of the lower nature, because of which relapses are also happening. This morning, I had a dream where a white (kind of fluffy) baby cat was chasing me and would not leave the room where I was. My sister tried her best to somehow make the cat leave the room, but the cat was very persistent in the act.

I interpreted this dream as indicating to me to take the “baby cat attitude” of the total reliance on the Divine(Surrender). Please correct me if I am wrong with the interpretation, or if something needs to be added and also kindly shed some light on these resistances of the lower nature that act as an obstacle in the sadhana. Thank you, Alok Da, for your guidance. I am truly grateful for your support and invaluable advice you have provided throughout our journey.

It is never easy to overcome the resistances of lower nature by one’s own strength. It is only possible to do so by a growing sincerity and surrender to the Divine Mother. As the sincerity grows, we are able to detect the wrong movement earlier and make the right movement of rejection. With the progress of surrender, we put our nature more and more under the influence of the Divine Mother and Her Force actively begins to act and do whatever is needed to be done to free us from the clutches of the lower nature. The most important, however, is psychic opening and surrender with a will that persists and refuses to give up regardless of resistance. Here is the great word of assurance and the Divine promise.

‘Strength, if it is spiritual, is a power for spiritual realisation; a greater power is sincerity; the greatest power of all is Grace. I have said times without number that if a man is sincere, he will go through in spite of long delay and overwhelming difficulties. I have repeatedly spoken of the Divine Grace. I have referred any number of times to the line of the Gita:

Ahaṁ tvā sarvapāpebhyo mokαΉ£ayiαΉ£yāmi mā Ε›ucaαΈ₯

“I will deliver thee from all sin and evil, do not grieve.”

In Book 2 Canto 10, Section 4 (68) ‘The Kingdoms and Godheads of Little Mind’, Sri Aurobindo talks about dwarf three-bodied trinity. Are they Thought, Desire and Reason? Is it right? If wrong then which are they?πŸ•ŠοΈπŸ“œβœ’οΈ

The dwarf triple bodied trinity are the three levels at which the present human mind operates. They are, in evolutionary sequence, the physical, vital and the mental mind or the mind proper.Β

The physical mind is heavily dependent upon the senses and the raw data they provide. It trusts only that which can be seen and measured. Then there is the vital mind that takes flights of imagination, thereby escaping from the ‘sensory reality’ in search of that which is hidden. It is the mind that fantasises, and in the process, might hit…

I have a very problem since childhood and still persist. I start something in a very enthusiastic after resolution but drops it in few weeks or months either because of priorities or lack of interest or insincerity. This is because the vital is unsteady. Practice equanimity, apply reason to control the vital from jumping from one thing to another, above all, call Peace and Calm to fix this not so uncommon difficulty.
