AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

Building life is about building the inner being. Outer routine is alright. It gives some outer discipline and helps a certain degree of mastery over nature. It can however also be deceptive by giving a false sense of ‘doing something’ whereas the real process has not yet begun. What helps is a persistent aspiration, an aspiration that seeks the Divine regardless of all the mental calculations and the real or apparent difficulties that the mind may show. Aspiration is not wishful thinking but a thirst, a need in the depths of the heart for the Divine. If it is there, the rest develops. If it is not there or weak then one has to grow it by feeding the fuel by offering all we do to the Divine, by studying the works of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother (Satsang) and contemplation upon the goal of one’s life.Β

Alongside one develops right thinking, right feeling, right will which are the main building blocks of the inner being. By ‘right’ is meant all that is aligned with the goal. It means discarding all that we needlessly indulge out of past habit which is nevertheless detrimental to our true progress. The key here is sincerity. If one is sincere one will be able to see all the contradictory wills in us that come in the way of our goal.

In essence it is about living life consciously making conscious choices.

For more details, I would advice you to read The Mother’s writings on Education (Volume 12) and on Dhammapada (Volume 3).

Affectionately,

Alok Da

The dwarf triple bodied trinity are the three levels at which the present human mind operates. They are, in evolutionary sequence, the physical, vital and the mental mind or the mind proper.Β

The physical mind is heavily dependent upon the senses and the raw data they provide. It trusts only that which can be seen and measured. Then there is the vital mind that takes flights of imagination, thereby escaping from the ‘sensory reality’ in search of that which is hidden. It is the mind that fantasises, and in the process, might hit…

This is because the vital is unsteady. Practice equanimity, apply reason to control the vital from jumping from one thing to another, above all, call Peace and Calm to fix this not so uncommon difficulty.
