AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I often feel, in my own mind, that I don’t have space for myself. Maybe my question sounds naive, as I am still at the very beginning of my spiritual journey. I’ve been brought up to always prioritize others, and because of that, it becomes difficult to connect with my own inner voice and find the strength to follow it. What could be a way forward?πŸ€«πŸ‘‚βœ¨

Yes this happens to Sattwic oriented persons. They tend to forget about themselves and often become martyrs at the altar of world play. It is important to set aside time for yourself which should be used for some kind of self-study of books that help us grow inwardly as well as time to reflect upon the deeper questions of life, especially the goal.

Prioritising others is to prioritise ignorance since most human beings live in ignorance and their own priorities are misplaced. The only altar where we should offer ourselves is the Divine or of Truth and Beauty and Good in their highest sense. After all this was precisely the error of Arjuna that he was ready to sacrifice his good for the perceived satisfaction of his patriarchs and cousins. Sri Krishna rebukes him and bids him to offer himself to the Divine of whom he came as the earthly representative. This is the way forward.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Then there is the vital mind that takes flights of imagination, thereby escaping from the ‘sensory reality’ in search of that which is hidden. It is the mind that fantasises, and in the process, might hit…

I have a very problem since childhood and still persist. I start something in a very enthusiastic after resolution but drops it in few weeks or months either because of priorities or lack of interest or insincerity. Its both in case of ordinary & spiritual life. For example I plan to paint or read spiritual books or do some certification etc. How to fix this problem?πŸŒ…πŸ†•πŸŒ±πŸ“…

This is because the vital is unsteady. Practice equanimity, apply reason to control the vital from jumping from one thing to another, above all, call Peace and Calm to fix this not so uncommon difficulty.
