AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

A couple of days back, I had a horrifying dream. I saw at the main door of my home some mischievous adolescents standing. I got a feeling that they were malevolent and would try to enter my home. ๐Ÿ‘น๐Ÿš๏ธ[…]

However, my elder aunt, who is actually very lean and fragile, was standing near the door. So, I asked her to immediately bolt the door from inside. However, by the time I moved to the door to bolt it, those guys tried entering, and the door couldnโ€™t be bolted from the inside completely. Those two adolescents were trying and trick me in every possible way to disturb me and create panic in me by trying to enter the house. Although they could, they didnโ€™t. Some middle-aged people were trying to push them away, but were unsuccessful.

However, I could at last bolt the door from within and was talking to my mother that we are finally fine. Then all of a sudden, a huge beast, some 8 ft high and heavily built with a pale greyish complexion like the colour of ash, broke down the door and entered my home. His expression was not furious, but looked like he was on a mission and had been specifically called because these adolescents couldnโ€™t accomplish theirย task ofย breaking down the door and entering my house. My mother and I were discussing that he is for sure a rakshasa.

Then I felt he did something to me, and I was unable to open my eyes. Somehow, I tried forcibly opening the right eye and failed to open the left eye completely. I was not afraid throughout the dream, but I could sense that I was disturbed. I even tried remembering the Motherโ€™s words that if you courageously look at the tiger, even that will turn into a cat. I tried that, but something was pulling me down from achieving that success…

What could this dream mean?

The dream means an attempt by the forces of the vital world to return, as they were during your adolescence. There are, however, benevolent powers that are helping you. Hence, despite all their tricks, they fail, apart from creating some disturbance and momentary inability to see things clearly.ย

Affectionately,

Alok Da

I saw your recent video, where you gave the example of Champaklal ji, who walked out on listening to the Bhajans of Gods. I myself enjoy devotional music a lot. Do I need to stop listening to it as a part of Yoga? ๐Ÿ•‰๏ธ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐ŸŒท

What was being refered to are the stock and standard Bhajans which hardly fall into the true category. But there are beautiful soul-uplifting bhajans with equally beautiful music that flows from the depths which is even helpful at one stage of sadhana, especially in the preliminary stages. An example of the former type could be, ‘suna hai …

Dada, I watched the Movie Dhurandhar (Part 1 & 2). The struggle of the main character felt like a present-day Arjuna. I would love to hear your thoughts on it. Is there any Spiritual Lesson we can take from it? ๐Ÿน๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐ŸŽž๏ธ๐ŸŒป๐ŸŽฌ

From the archetype point of view, the character of the main protagonist (hero) in this film is more like Abhimanyu except that it ends up with a happier fate. Like Abhimanyu, he enters into the enemy ranks from where coming out was near impossible. He is trained but inexperienced, again like Abhimanyu. He is valiant, courageous, puts …

Yes, if one looks within and finds that one has done what best one could do in a given situation, then one should remain inwardly quiet and see why one gets disturbed by the criticism. It is generally either because one expects some appreciation or praise or at least..
