AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Dear Alok Da, “Hence we must learn to trust and have faith that whatever be the outer appearance the Divine Grace will carry us through it all towards our true destiny.” But, how to endure, if the passage is too unnerving and painful, like cancer?๐Ÿชท๐Ÿฆข๐Ÿ›ก๏ธโš“

That is just what the Mother is saying, with faith. This is the passage through which all who have realised ever anything worthwhile in life, let alone the Divine, have ever achieved. Read the lives of saints and heroes and martyrs who bravely and courageously gave their lives for a cause they felt is worthy of the human spirit and its greatness. Fear comes from an excessive attachment to the body and the personal pleasures and comforts of life. If one still values these things more than the Divine then one is surely not ready for realising the Highest. One can, in that case form a religous relationship with God which is a transactional one, of seeking God’s Protection, Help and Grace in difficulties. It is very much permitted though under the present limitations of earth nature a complete unconditional Protection is difficult especially if those seeking for it continue with their old egoistic ways of life. What it means is that in such a relationship the suffering is ameliorated to the extent it is possible, the passage eased out, the strength to bear the pain is given even if one has to go through certain unavoidable difficult circumstances.

But there is a difference between this general help given to man and the soul that aspires for the Divine. There is always a recompense for all the difficulties borne by the aspirant in the course of his journey, so much so that even tortures become a means to open doors of ecstasy as you see in the life of many saints. But one must take the leap of faith first which is not easy for the calculating mind. This is not to say that suffering is inevitable but as things stand today, given our excessive attachments and desires a certain degree of purifying ordeal is often part of the journey. But the one who has truly surrendered to the Divine feels them not. He sees them as the hand of the Master potter shaping the hard clay.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Namastey Alok Da, I was reading some predictions related to Pakistan and China by Mother and Sri Aurobindo on the website, Was the Mother referring to a future event that is yet to manifest, or was this vision specific to that time period and did not occur due to divine intervention or a change in the working of forces? Is there any future possibility where China might invade India?๐Ÿชท๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒ๐Ÿฎ

She was referring to a possibility, a possibility that was strong at that moment as well remains a risk for the future. Sri Aurobindo also said that they are very restless and saw the threat of Red China invading India through Tibet. As long as the Communist party …

I have been living away from home for almost 9 years for my studies, and currently study in a foreign country. I usually donโ€™t get much lonely and even if I, I get comfortable on remembering the Mother. It is most likely the result of home-sickness arising out of loneliness. Certain circumstances and situations are typically associated in the mind with home or the place where one grew up. They remind us of the fact of being …

I have recently started my residency in MS opthalmology. My schedule runs from 7am to 11pm with two 36 hours shifts each week. Throughout the day I am constantly surrounded by seniors and immersed in work and we are not allowed to leave the wards during working hours. I get no time for meditation or reading books of Maa and Sri Aurobindo or even some time to sit in silence. How to do this Sadhana through work when hospital feels like a jail and certain seniors like jailors?๐Ÿง˜๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ๐Ÿ“ฟ๐Ÿ“–

I completely understand having gone through it in my own way. What you should do is to first change the motive of your studies. Take this attitude that you are getting trained in the field of Opthalmology to be a good …
