AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

My question is on the part where you mentioned about people who sacrifice for greater love like creative writersย  or leaders. In the closing sentence, you mention social duty. Please clarify my misunderstanding – I have always considered sacrificing for nation or inspiring others as social duty. What qualifies as a social duty? And how can one become a sacrifice and another an attachment?ย ๐Ÿ–‡๏ธ๐Ÿ”—๐Ÿ‘ฅ๐Ÿค

I read your post , Very beautiful point on setting people free and I have noticed that some connections do provide emotional nourishment that explains my attachment or addiction and I am working on weaning off but the process was scary initially.

Social duties are primarily those born out of social relationships as an accepted convention in a given society. They are not truth but they help trimming our egoism by teaching us to subordinate our personal likes and dislikes and demands to the need of others. When rightly done with an inner detachment to the outer fruits, without expectations, they quieten the noise of the desires and cravings in us, thus preparing us for higher things. But if indulged excessively or for their own sake, or for the egoism of being special or greater than others, then it can become a serious impediment to a still higher life. The egoism of being a good person is like the chains of gold that one is unable to break even though they are easy to do so. That is what we see in the teaching of the Gita, of the Buddha and all the wise ones. One has to discard, at some points the attachment to social duties, including national etc, however wonderful they are, to arrive at the still higher, wider and more comprehensive Truth.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

To be honest I have a complete different perception now which is difficult to explain to anyone also sometimes I feel is it a lot of my Ego speaking and thats why the conflicts?๐Ÿ‘‘๐Ÿฆ๐ŸŽญ๐Ÿชž

It is the struggle that most people of the new generation feel. The simplest way to deal with these things is to stay focused on your goal and not try to change people, however significant or close they may be in your life. To try changing others or to expect them to….

Namastey Alok Da, I was reading some predictions related to Pakistan and China by Mother and Sri Aurobindo on the website, Was the Mother referring to a future event that is yet to manifest, or was this vision specific to that time period and did not occur due to divine intervention or a change in the working of forces? Is there any future possibility where China might invade India?๐Ÿชท๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŒ๐Ÿฎ

She was referring to a possibility, a possibility that was strong at that moment as well remains a risk for the future. Sri Aurobindo also said that they are very restless and saw the threat of Red China invading India through Tibet. As long as the Communist party …

I have been living away from home for almost 9 years for my studies, and currently study in a foreign country. I usually donโ€™t get much lonely and even if I, I get comfortable on remembering the Mother. But for sometime, I am getting too emotional on festivals such as today, which usually results in a fever and impacts my work. How should I deal with it?๐Ÿก๐Ÿ“๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿงธโ˜•

It is most likely the result of home-sickness arising out of loneliness. Certain circumstances and situations are typically associated in the mind with home or the place where one grew up. They remind us of the fact of being …
