When a new construction has to be made, there are many parts of the old building that need to be demolished and broken down. There are other parts that need to be redone. Sometimes even the foundation needs to change so that a much stronger building can come up. The same logic applies to every new creation. There are ways of life that work well at one point of time. But become a problem and a liability later on when they lose their inner truth. For example marraige, giving respect to the elders, dictator kings, priests all these were useful at one point of time but slowly their limitations began to show up. Marraige became a means to subjugate women, respect changed into blind obedience, kings started exploiting the subjects and priests created a wall between the human soul and God. This is the dharmasyaglani spoken off in the Gita. That is why we see often that the end of an Age is marked by some great war, the Ramayana in Treta, Mahabharata in Dwapara, The two World Wars in Kaliyuga. The past, however good and useful it may have been at one moment has to be erased or overpassed if new things have to come. Even in the body, the old cells must go for new cells to come up otherwise the person develops a cancer. This dying of the old and the change to a new way of life is felt as disorder just like when you pull down an old building and want to build a new one in its place. That is what we are witnessing now.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
