I want everyone to know whether Satyug has started. If yes, then why are we not evolved, or are many things beyond us? Please tell me what True Love is, and the trend of Love and Marriages we see these days is right or wrong, or what it is. I can’t understand!
Evolution is the only thing that is going on in this world. It is so because Time always marches towards the future. But there are two phases of evolution. One is long and slow and micro-evolution. Take, for example, the slow process through which humans (and every species) undergoes learning and thereby progresses step by step. In human beings, we facilitate this process through education. But this slow micro-evolution is within the limits of each species. Here, unlike animals, human beings have a much wider limit within which they can evolve and, in fact, have evolved, from the cannibals and blood thirsty human beings to rational, thinking humans as we see now. Of course, not all evolve at the same pace, so you will never see an en bloc change. But surely there is a large change from the forest-dwelling Vanaras and the dangerous Rakshasas to a little more considerate humanity.
The other evolution is rapid and looks like a leap with a near total change, as we see when human beings undergo transition from childhood to adulthood through a destabilising phase of adolescence. Here, our role is very little. It is not a learning but an adaptation to a new state of understanding and living worked out by Nature. There is another example of this, which is known as spiritual conversion, wherein a human being suddenly experiences a great, unexpected inner change of thinking, living, attitude, outlook, goals towards everything. This has been going on for a long time in human beings, giving rise to human-unhuman or superhuman beings that are known as heroes, saviours, geniuses, vibhutis, saints, sages, seers, etc. This is the farthest limit of humanity so far. It is primarily a change of consciousness and not the form, an emergence of new capacities but on the basis of the same physical body.
But there is a still greater evolutionary leap as we see when the form itself changes and a new species emerges. Its signs are an increasing restlessness and dissatisfaction with the current limits of humanity, an explosion of knowledge in every field, the throwing up of abnormal phenomena such as madness, etc., the breaking up of the old ways and patterns, among others. If we look carefully inside, we will see that behind all this is an aspiration, a faith and a will for the change. When this aspiration, faith and will become conscious, it is called Yoga.
Now, why does it happen? Evolution implies that there is an involution, just as a tree coming out of a seed means that the tree was there within it in a compressed seed form. So too there is the Divine Energy, the Divine Power, Knowledge and Will involved in matter. It is slowly emerging and as it emerges, matter gets modified to be able to manifest the new possibilities.
Human beings, too, hold within them the Divine. The next future of humanity, therefore, whose hints we can see as mentioned above, is a spiritualised and then a divinised superhumanity. First, it will be a humanity with a new consciousness in the old body (the Superman) followed after a couple of centuries, due to the increasing inner pressure, of the divine consciousness in a divine body that will be luminous, plastic, immune, and deathless. The first stage of the Superman is already being worked out now. The next stage of the Supramental type is slowly getting ready behind the scenes.
Once we understand this, we can understand everything. Thus, for example, true love is Divine Love that gives itself completely to the creation without calculation. It is thereby involved in the matter. But in the course of evolution, it emerges as the power of crystallisation in the atoms, then the instinct to join in plants, then sexual instinct in animals and attraction between human beings. Then, taking an upward turn, it seeks its origin in God-love. Finally filled with God-love, it returns to change the world by the power of Divine Love.
