In all Yogas, the first step is to break open the circle of Ignorance in which our self is trapped. It is like a bird coming out of the prison. Though the veil might partially close again, the door once opened cannot be fully closed. In fact the psychic being once tasting the joy of escape tends to draw in that direction again and again. The Deity whom one worshipped from afar suddenly draws close and we naturally tend to spend more and more time in company with the Divine rather than of the world. Once one tastes the Peace and Joy of the Divine, all other joys and pleasures begin to fade away. Thus slowly but surely one grows more and more in union with the Divine. Once this contact is established definitively one doesn’t lose it. It is just that one enters the field of Nature, especially in the Integral Yoga, to change and align them to the Divine Will. This takes time. But the basic experience and the sense of the new identity found in the Divine is never lost. The difference is as when a prince has forgotten or knows not his real identity and is moving on the roads, lost and alone. On the other hand, the same prison now knows himself, walks on the roads, faces the challenges but always knows who he is.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
