At times with full of peace and happiness and joy around and sometimes there are all these distress, anxiety, anger and suicidal thoughts. There are these days with repetitive thoughts and negativity and a strong need for immediate result.. Sometimes I feel like the problem are not others here but its me, something I’m supposed to do but I really don’t remember what it is.. Its like as if a long period of winter has started and wait is for the sun..
What is missing and what you need most is faith. Man cannot take a step forward without faith. This habit of the physical mind to determine and fix the future before it takes a step is self-paralysing for there is no certain way to do that. Nobody, even the most acute and swift intelligence can determine the future with accuracy. But this is precisely what the desire driven system wants. It fixes the result first, wants certain things and then calculates the pros and cons, the possibilities and then acts. But it is an impossibility to be certain about the future. The result is a self-paralysing doubt.
The remedy that the Gita suggests and it is indeed the best I know of, is to turn inwards and see and feel what you are made for. Each one of us has a certain innate temperament, an inner inborn urge and natural capacity and turn in a certain direction. It is within our reach to know it and then it is this that should direct our efforts. It is the most satisfying and fulfilling way to work and live. It is what we are meant for. But if we try to enter into competition and start thinking of outer success and failures then, even if success comes and money comes, life remains unhappy within.
So try to discover what you are meant for regardless of what you will get from it. Try to be a giver to life and people rather than wanting this or that. Life will surely provide you reasonably enough for your needs. What does the rest matter. Work should be a means of self-expression and not a means to satisfy desires and earn money.
And of course have faith in the Wisdom that has built and governs the world. Nothing enduring can be done without faith.
Just keep this in mind and see how things begin to change.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
