Much love always
It is to be understood that yogis do not die. After leaving the body they either withdraw consciously into the Divine Reality or else they continue to dwell in one of the many planes beyond the earth so that they can help mankind from there. Generally the plane chosen is higher up so that they can help without much active contact with humanity.
Sri Aurobindo has however chosen to stay nearer the earth so that he can watch over the events and happenings of earth more closely and intervene wherever required so that the destined supramental transformation can be fulfilled sooner rather than later. This is the purpose for his stay and if there is a need for him to manifest himself for the work he has undertaken then he does come in contact with those involved with the work at critical junctures. To see him, to come in contact with him depends upon the sincerity of our will or else his Grace that chooses to reveal himself to someone for reasons that the human mind cannot fathom. This is equally true of The Mother.
Can we see him? Yes in dream state or vision if our subtle eyes are open in these domains and if he choses to reveal himself. Can we feel his contact? Yes, if we are sensitive to touches from the subtle worlds or if the subtle senses of hearing, touch, smell are awake and of course if he choses to reveal himself. The question however is why we want to come in contact with him. If it is a mntal curiosity or a passing fancy or a vital desire then surely these are insufficient. But if it is a genuine need of our soul, the cry of our inner being then surely the revelation comes and one experiences the contact which may or may not be in the form of a vision but more commonly in the form of a deep inner Peace, the sense of a certitude, an unspeakable joy, the opening of doors to knowledge or very simply an intervention in times of crisis where one can clearly see that a Divine Hand has changed the course of things.
Affectionately,
Alok Da
