Absolutely. It is the latter as you have rightly surmised. The Divine Love is equally for all but it is received more by those who care for it, are open to it and most importantly, give themselves completely to the Divine unconditionally.

1) Because one of the disciples of a particular spiritual man commits suicide or whatever else, therefore there is no Divine intervention! Any logical statistically oriented person would laugh at this ridiculous conclusion. It shows an a priori bias since you are giving an exaggerated importance to one instance while ignoring several others….
