AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Sir, is it wrong to do sex with my wife, though we have two young children and we don’t need any more🤨?

From the spiritual point of view with wife has the same effect on consciousness as with someone else, as far as the act itself is concerned. Of course with one’s wife or a single person whom one loves, there is already an intermingling of consciousness. But having more partners creates chaos in the system somewhat like taking all kinds of things of different people for you to sort out inside your being, and giving your precious pearls to them and losing them eventually.

With wife or single partner this risk is minimized since one grows one being within.

Is it an obstacle in sadhana?

Well, yes because sex creates lot of vital excitement and after the act the consciousness takes a dip into dense dark fields exposing and making one vulnerable to forces of darkness and falsehood. The energy that one throws out in sexual act is the same energy that, if conserved and sublimated upwards feeds the aspiration and is eventually transmuted into higher forms of inner energy, viz a viz retas (fluid) to tejas (heat or vital force) to vidyut (electrical or mental illumination) and viryas (spiritual strength and power). It is not about right and wrong or any moral issues but about wasting the vital-physical energy into extreme pleasure or turning it upwards into spiritual knowledge and power.

Having said that it is understood that sexual mastery does not come easily. Its roots are in the very body and much before even animal life began. One has to be patient and apply sanyama (self regulation) followed eventually by nigraha (complete control). One should not make it the centre of conflict within. A

Affectionately,

Alok Da

I saw your recent video, where you gave the example of Champaklal ji, who walked out on listening to the Bhajans of Gods. I myself enjoy devotional music a lot. Do I need to stop listening to it as a part of Yoga? 🕉️🎶😇🙏🏻🌷

What was being refered to are the stock and standard Bhajans which hardly fall into the true category. But there are beautiful soul-uplifting bhajans with equally beautiful music that flows from the depths which is even helpful at one stage of sadhana, especially in the preliminary stages. An example of the former type could be, ‘suna hai …

Dada, I watched the Movie Dhurandhar (Part 1 & 2). The struggle of the main character felt like a present-day Arjuna. I would love to hear your thoughts on it. Is there any Spiritual Lesson we can take from it? 🏹😊🙏🏻🎞️🌻🎬

From the archetype point of view, the character of the main protagonist (hero) in this film is more like Abhimanyu except that it ends up with a happier fate. Like Abhimanyu, he enters into the enemy ranks from where coming out was near impossible. He is trained but inexperienced, again like Abhimanyu. He is valiant, courageous, puts …

In one of your lectures on “Planned Action and Divine Action,” you mentioned that when we are praised or felicitated, one should neither deny it nor take personal pride in it. 🙁🤷🏼‍♂️🪷✨[…]

Yes, if one looks within and finds that one has done what best one could do in a given situation, then one should remain inwardly quiet and see why one gets disturbed by the criticism. It is generally either because one expects some appreciation or praise or at least..
