Presence is something that is felt, not as a feeling but as a perception. One senses that the Divine is there in the heart. When the feeling is clear, then there is a state of faith and inner peace, a confidence in the Grace, of being carried and protected, the sense of security that is independent of all outer conditions.
One has to start with keeping one’s concentration on the heart, imagining the form or image of the Divine with which you relate best. Slowly, this begins to merge with the Divine Presence in the heart, felt the moment one turns one’s attention there. One also becomes aware when the Presence gets veiled due to certain thoughts and actions or strong emotions and excitement. During those moments, the inner Peace and Joy is lost and clarity gives place to confusion and restlessness
However, the veil gets removed more and more easily, the sense of the Presence grows more and more until it becomes a settled fact established beyond any doubt.
