The gods have always been there; in fact, they have been labouring even before the material creation came into existence. It is the gods and goddesses, prompted by the Divine Mother and supported by Her Wisdom and Strength, who have woven this necklace of stars around the Unseen Lord, given numberless bodies to the Bodiless, entered into the various processes of Nature and labour to create, preserve, help the evolutionary momentum, and when the time arrives, to destroy and withdraw whatever is not needed for the moment.ย
There are these four main Gods that are the direct emanations of the One Supreme Sacchidananda. They each represent the fourfold aspects of the One Divine, Sat or infinite existence, Chit-tapas or infinite consciousness and force, Ananda or infinite bliss. Their names have changed with time, their functions extended with the advent of Man, their work grown more complex in the course of Time, especially with the process of evolution.
From these four original emanations arise several others projecting into Time and Space and entering all the fields of Nature. Nature herself is nothing but the Divine Mother wearing a mask of self-limitation and ignorance, hiding all Her Truth and Power and potentialities behind the frontal appearance of things.ย
Man himself is a god who has fallen from the heights where the lower and the higher hemispheres meet, on the borders of the Overmind. He is meant to assist the gods and carry the march of creation beyond the last confines of ignorance so that the fullness of the Divine Glory can manifest here upon earth through name and form. But because he drags the shadow of his animal and subhuman past, man must first free his mind and heart and will from the clutches of the past that holds him back, tying him still to the unevolved animal as well as the rakshasa and asura. In the measure he can do it and in the measure he can align himself to the gods and the cosmic purpose in creation, in that measure he can rise, evolve and reclaim his godliness, become a godhead himself or a demigod. In fact, he can go still further, go to the very Source from which all, including the gods and goddesses, have emerged and become one with the Supreme Divine within him. The possibilities of a human being are endless if we work towards realising them.ย
Affectionately,
Alok Da
