AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Mother says, “Eyes are the window to the soul.” Can you please explain this?

When we look into ourselves and find insincerity, our eyes and face change—it’s an indication. I’ve observed the same with children; they may suddenly avoid your gaze, which itself signals falsehood. There’s a Hindi saying, “Ankeh Chura rahe ho,” which means concealing something by averting the eyes. This is because eyes reveal feelings; they are mirrors of the soul. People’s eyes hide many things, like a thick layer of glass you can’t penetrate. This distinction is evident between animal eyes, which reflect light like glass due to the absence of individual soul, and human eyes, through which you can see the soul. Even in children, you can directly perceive this. Eyes allow us to perceive depth, but when we lie or engage in falsehood, the eyes gradually change. Clear eyes reflect clarity, and when eyes smile, everything feels better.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Alok da, it’s been like two-three years since I got an introduction to Savitri, and discourses upon it by M P Pandit, yours and others. I intuitively knew – this is a text that I should be carrying like an inner recitation throughout my life from now on, but still I came to postponing and delaying totally getting into it all this time. 😊🙏🏻🌻📖[…]
