AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Now the question is, as a person dies, apart from the psychic being, what other things are carried to the next life and who carries them? The body  is not there, the psychic being goes to the psychic world. The vital goes to the vital world. The mental part goes to the mental world.  So, it is only the psychic that proceeds to the next birth. Then, while going to take the next birth, does the psychic collect certain elements from the vital and mental world? If yes,  how can it find its corresponding vital and mental which it had in the previous birth🤔?

As far as I have understood from our previous conversation, the subconscient and the inconscient are world consciousnesses. Anger, fear, jealousy and other such forces are nothing but universal vibrations. They get individualised in a person which can be called an illusion.

Nothing of the subconscient or the inconscient belongs to the past lives. They carry the impressions of the present life only. The psychic being only carries certain impressions which have been touched by it and some other half finished learnings.

The psychic being, as it evolves, develops an individual psychic personality around its core which of course is the divine spark within it. This psychic personality holds within it all the impressions of the past lives that had a deep impact and have now got integrated with the psychic being as soul memories, spiritual seekings and unfinished strivings. It is called as the true mental, true vital, true physical.

When the psychic being enters a new body, it is these elements of the psychic personality that attract the corresponding elements from the universal nature needed for its growth. At the same time and in the process other elements that are part of the earth nature automatically get attached such as heredity, environmental conditions, the subconscient upsurgings etc from universal nature. But this is not just a random process. Behind the cosmic ignorance there is the cosmic truth that uses all this material to further help the psychic in its evolution. The psychic uses them as part of its further growth.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Growing up, I always felt that sex was something that should happen after marriage. But honestly, it was never really about traditional or moral beliefs for me. It was more because I have been doing sadhana of the Mother and Sri Aurobindo, and somewhere within me, I always wondered—why should an emotion like lust or sexual desire come into this? 💞🪷 […]

These are three different things that must be seen each in its own right.

Firstly, sex and yoga: as far as most yogas are concerned, including Sri Aurobindo’s Yoga sex is seen as an obstacle. This is not so much because of moral reasons but simply because spiritual life means turning the consciousness and vital energy higher upwards and deeper. Sex, on the other hand pulls it outwards and downwards. This is so because of the pull towards the body. Bodily and vital pleasures are at crossroads with the higher aspiration and spiritual Ananda….

I read the following advice from the Mother to an artist learning to paint: Would you like me to draw birds or animals sometimes? If you like—but drawings from nature are best for learning. I have done this picture without anybody’s help. How is it? Will I be able to learn? ✍️🎨✨ […]

Poetry requires an inner hearing, the faculty of  inspiration so to say, just as painting requires an inner vision, a faculty that reveals what is hidden in the form. The technique is a framework which can be developed by practice. The inspiration comes through an inner…

I believe that reading The Secret of the Vedas by Sri Aurobindo gives us the real insight into the meaning of the Vedas and nothing more is needed for spiritual practitioners or for those who are looking to gain genuine spiritual insights. 📚🕉️[…]

The Secret of the Vedas was my first book too along with The Synthesis of Yoga. While it is no doubt a precious treasure (I had felt floating on cloud nine while reading it), it is certainly not enough for the Integral Yoga. Besides, apart from the conceptual understanding, the actual details of the practice for today’s practitioners is …
