AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

They often tell me that it was the householders who had the supramental “downloads” or words to that effect. They also say marriage is an airplane route in this Integral Yoga Path. I’m not a grihastha as it is against the truth of my being & not in consonance with my needs. Not being a grihastha limits my exposure & experience of human interactions & hence limits the field & scope for progress. Am I then unfit or not qualified either for Integral Yoga or for being touched by supramental? Supramental is too far afield but these queries do come up now & then with age & passage of time). Please shed some light on this 🙏

This is supported neither by facts nor by spiritual logic. The truth of the matter is that marriage does come with a huge burden as far as the spiritual life is concerned. There is a lot of energy that is absorbed in maintaining the daily routine of life as well as the upbringing of children. Relationships can be very demanding especially with the family expectations from both sides. Even in the best case scenario where both share a common aspiration and same spiritual path, living together can be quite challenging as egos clash while the yoga uncovers and lays bare all the bright and dark strands of nature one by one. Added to this is the problem of desire and attachments that can get compounded.

This does not however mean that being a bachelor makes it easy. It brings its own challenges if the vital is weak. The extra time and freedom may be wasted in worse things. Most importantly one may grow selfish and self-centred thinking only of oneself, one’s sadhana etc. The absence of close human love may make the heart rather hard and close to the energy of love.

The gist therefore is that ultimately no outer condition can be considered as specially helpful or harmful. It is the inner attitude and sincerity that matters.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Today I was thinking about donating money to the beggars, and a thought came to me that if a beggar is in good health, why shouldn’t he work for himself and earn his own money? I also believe that it is the evolutionary struggle that will help them to develop, and if I provide any money, it will create a hindrance to the same. 🤔❤️‍🔥💰🌻[…]

You are absolutely right, without a doubt. The Gita even goes on to say that something given without due consideration of Time, place and circumstance simply brings delusion (moha) to the giver and the receiver both. ..

One of your answers about Marriage is that it is for going together for Higher Consciousness and for Sadhana. Alok da, it’s been like two-three years since I got an introduction to Savitri, and discourses upon it by M P Pandit, yours and others. I intuitively knew – this is a text that I should be carrying like an inner recitation throughout my life from now on, but still I came to postponing and delaying totally getting into it all this time. 😊🙏🏻🌻📖[…]
