AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

What is the most surprising thing in the world?

Well this question was answered by Yudhishthira, “Everyday people die and yet man thinks he is immortal.”

This well known phrase in the Mahabharata during the Van parva (Book of the Forest) can be seen in two ways.

The common interpretation is that this statement is a reminder of the transience of earthly life.

But its deeper suggestion is that there is something immortal in us that we intuitively feel because of which we ‘forget to die ‘

Affectionately,

Alok da.
