AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I love to listen to your Talks. I am having difficult times and assailed by the same thoughts. Your Talks about Sri Aurobindo and the Mother are extremely invigorating. The problem is that going back to the everyday events reverses that Energy. πŸ˜‘πŸƒπŸŒΌβœ¨[…]

I listened in particular on the topic: Quietening the Mind. Satprem says that Thoughts come from Outside. So what makes them diminish their relentlessness? After all, who tells them to slow down? And yes, I have tried to offer up these thoughts, but I guess, this is not so simple and must be a long labour. I have tried to convince myself that difficult times are meant to happen as a way to redirect a Path. Is that so in Reality?

The simplest way to quieten the mind is, first, paradoxically, not to try too hard or think of this method or that to quieten it. Instead of trying, just take a step back from the whorl of incessant thoughts and activities and be a witness. This weakens the intrusion of thoughts considerably. If the swarm returns as it will, then instead of getting into a struggle and fight, just call for peace and quietude. Yes, it takes time as everything does. One has to persevere and also learn to rely on the Divine Mother’s Grace. All will come near what now seems difficult or far.

As to the rest, try to put into practice what you read or listen, simple things such as offering your actions, your nature and yourself to Her, pray-read-meditate especially with Savitri and prayers and Meditations, remember Her as often as you can and stay inwardly open to Her as you go about your everyday life and all the works. Rest will come with Time.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
