AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

“One has to be quite ignorant of the mechanism of forces not to understand that saying a mantra of the old gods puts you under the influence and into the orbit of precisely that which resists the new truth.”Alok da, what does the above passage mean🤔?

The above words are by Satprem from the Mother’s Agenda, October 16, 1963

The gods in their working, those that we know today, operate in the lower nature from Matter till the Mind. They do not cross the borders of the Ignorance as that would exceed the limits of their function. Within this lower nature they help mankind, inspire him with hope, intervene where needed. At most they can prepare for nirvana. But by themselves they cannot liberate us from ignorance, let alone transform us. Hence being under their influence is to stay in the circle of ignorance. This is what all the great teachings say.

But when it comes to transformation, then things become more serious. The gods who belong to the Overmind and below keep human beings tied as a cattle, as the Upanishads say. They keep us moving in the duality of pleasure and pain, joy and sorrow, good and evil, reward and punishment (because if you call in one, the other will come as its shadow) and hence tied to Ignorance. Even the Gita asks us to go beyond the gods, however good and helpful they may be.

Of course Satprem is a little too harsh upon them due to his revolting nature. But the principle is correct. To be pulled to the gods as well as the yoga of transformation is to have divided loyalty and thereby delay or complicate the process as certain gods may pull us in contrary direction.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

My question is, Gita says: “It is better to do one’s own dharma, even though imperfectly, than to do another’s dharma, even though perfectly.” – How does it apply on a daily basis to us internally and our interactions in life? 📙😊🙏🏻🌸

It means that it is better to live according to your own inmost impulsion of truth, even if it brings outer failure, than to achieve success by following a way of life that is not in tune with your own inmost truth, even if it brings success. ..

I am unable to understand this said by The Mother. Please explain to me: “You must use everything for the purpose for which it is given, otherwise you commit a crime. I am not speaking merely of physical things. All the inner things that I am giving you all the time, all the strength, light, energy and life that are being poured into you all the time, are meant for the service of the Divine, for the sake of transforming you. If you use them for any other purpose, you are a robber and your crime is the worst possible.” ~ The Mother (CWM 13:183)

It means that all the capacities that we have, – physical, vital, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, should be offered at the Feet of the Divine for His Work and Service. Most of the time however we take these capacities to be …
