AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Sri Aurobindo writes in his book Essays Divine and Human: “Matter, Life, Mind, Supermind or Gnosis, and beyond these the quadruple power of a supreme Being-Consciousness-Force-Bliss—these are the grades of the evolutionary ascent from inconscience to the Superconscience.” (pg.249) He also writes that “The evolution of the earth nature is not finished because it has manifested only three powers out of the seven-fold scale of consciousness that is involved in manifested Nature. It has brought out from its apparent inconscience only the three powers of Mind and Life and Matter.” (pg.244) Can we infer from this that after Supermind, the luminous planes of Sat, Chit and Ananda will be evolving here on earth🧐? Of course, the question is mainly to know if I have correctly comprehended Sri Aurobindo’s vision of evolution and its fulfilment here on earth

Absolutely so. After the Supramental Manifestation and the Supramental body there will be the Manifestation of Bliss and the bliss body. Sri Krishna worked for that eventual fulfilment but the base of Truth Consciousness has to be first firmly established upon earth.

The difference however will be that right now this evolutionary emergence is a painful process involving much struggle due to the hard grip of ignorance.  With the Supramental Manifestation the further emergence will be a conscious happy process undertaken in freedom and delight. Whether and what way the further Manifestation beyond the Bliss Self will take place is difficult to say since creation has begun with delight. With the full recovery of the delight of existence there would likely be an unending play of existence and consciousness in countless bodies of bliss, the Maharasa envisaged by the Hindu mystics.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

As a psychiatrist, you certainly possess profound insight into psychology. There is a strong reason for saying this: the essays you have written on the Bhagavad Gita transcend the mere label of “spirituality.” Although psychology and the Bhagavad Gita may seem to deal with contrasting subjects, my understanding is that the Gita serves as a treatise on duty—delivered by Sri Krishna to dispel Arjuna’s mental frailty. I would be grateful if you could kindly answer the following question.

Thank you for your kind words. The Gita is a most wonderful gospel of works ever written. But the idea of works, as far as the Gita is concerned goes beyond the conception of duty. Duty is primarily a Western concept which, put in the language of Indian spiritual thought would mean, doing whatever work falls to our lot with a Sattwic …

Alok da, I have a question. Earlier, I used to feel that if I had worked on something, I should make sure people knew about it, because the person assigning the work should also know what I contributed in order to evaluate me properly. 💼🧑🏼‍💼❤️‍🔥🌼[…]

It is best to leave the result in the hands of the Divine. Self promotion is a bad policy in the long run. It feeds vanity and arrogance while dropping the actual ability to work well. Work should not be a performance but the joy of expressing one’s inner truth. It should …

I am a woman entering into my 30s. Since a small kid, I remember growing up among mostly male cousins. So much so that I used to be a tomboy. I grew up among female classmates and have had mostly female friendships. 👩🏼❤️‍🔥🌼[…]
