AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

In various tribal-dominated regions of India, Christian conversion has occurred—and continues to occur—on a large scale. However, Christianity’s influence can be clearly seen in the changes that have taken place in the lifestyle of many tribal communities. On the other hand, even while living within the Hindu cultural sphere, many tribal people remain deeply rooted in certain orthodox practices and superstitions. To lead a higher moral life, what is the right path to follow? Kindly provide guidance in perspective of tribals🌿🐆🏹🔥

Coming from a tribal community myself, I have observed the level of consciousness with which they are currently living. How will change come, and what will our role be in making tribal philosophy of life more meaningful and ethical?

Change will come and is bound to come. It is not only an evolutionary necessity but also the pressure of Time. As to the path of change, instead of replacing one set of beliefs with another, one religion with another, one needs to develop a better understanding of the practices of one’s culture. Whatever is consistent with progress should be accepted and integrated. The rest need not be held on to. Most important is education, an integral education along the lines shown by Sri Aurobindo and The Mother is what is needed. There are some people doing this work and it must be taken up with urgency.

Affectionetly,

Alok Da

This is a resurgence of excessive rajas which will sooner or later stabilise and, given the …
