AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

My sister hasn’t scored well in NEET and isn’t getting any MBBS college. She doesn’t have any inner calling or conviction to decide what she should pursue. We were thinking of admitting her to a BAMS college. But everyone is advising that there is no scope for an Ayurvedic doctor. Can you guide me regarding this and tell me what can be career options after pursuing BAMS🤨?

One does not study a branch of knowledge for career and money but for the joy of learning, gaining knowledge in the field of interest, for expressing oneself creatively along the lines of one’s nature and temperament. If one keeps that in mind then success comes in whatever field you take up because it is in line with one’s innate temperament and inborn tendencies. So if one has the healer in oneself then any field, allopathy or ayurveda, or dentistry is all fine. Dentistry also pays well. Pharmacology and Microbiology are other areas for entry into the medical field. A relatively new and upcoming field is genetics, immunology, and biotechnology. But most important is to know what is it that interests her deeply.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
