AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

In this life, I am trying to move closer to God through spirituality , while many others are not making that effort. Since ultimately every soul will reach the Divine, whether in this lifetime or in future lifetimes, what difference does it really make if I begin the spiritual journey now while others begin later? What is the meaning or significance of starting early, if eventually everyone will reach the same destination?

People are in different stages of their evolution and each one must take their calling. One doesn’t send a one year old to school as it will be a disaster in every way. But equally one doesn’t keep the child tied to home at 10. That will be equally not good. Human beings turn towards seeking the spiritual life or seek closeness to God when the time comes. It is an inner prompting. When something arises as a natural prompting then it is best not to ignore it.

As to benefit, well closeness to the Divine or even an access to higher and deeper consciousness that spirituality provides liberates one from the law of ignorance and much suffering. Is that an ordinary gain? Spirituality is primarily about change of consciousness and this change or shift is the key to everything we seek in our ignorance but never find.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
