AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Had a dream today where I fell in love in love with a person I have never thought about much before. And that person fell in love with me in the dream. The whole thing sounds ridiculous, but I woke up feeling like it was the best dream I had in a very long time, leaving me almost disappointed that it wasn’t real, at the same tome leaving a trace of gratitude for having experienced such deep feelings of happiness inside the dream. How can such a thing happen in the dream when clearly there is no strong external connection, attraction, or contact with the person in real life?

It is a subtle contact that you had with the person and at that moment the deeper truth had a chance to express itself. Often our subliminal being is aware of things that our surface nature is ignorant of. Attractions, strong external contact, outer responses are often not indicative of truth that lies buried in our depths and shows up sometimes in dreams.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Sri Aurobindo’s own assessment of him was that he was a passionate sentimental idealist with the streak of ambition that drove him. Of course this comment refers to his personaity and nature in this life. It is not any judgment ….
