AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

My older sister introduced me to Sri Aurobindo’s books when I was in college and now she seems like a completely different person and it worries me. I don’t know what I can do?🤼⚡🧱

She learned jyotish, joined a famous organization and completed many advanced courses. Over time she influenced my mother not to support my higher studies, created distance between my grandparents and my mother, and even convinced my grandfather to give all his inheritance to her when she was only 19, instead of my mother. She wakes up at 4 am everyday, does yoga, pranayama, but her behaviour keeps worsening. She does not want to live with her husband, but also refuses to take divorce as she thinks it is adharmic. She does not want to do a job and cannot even have a normal simple conversation with anyone.

When I visited home in November, I tried to discuss Aurobindo’s and Swami Vivekananda’s writings with her, just like old times, and she said “Nobody follows Aurobindo anymore, it is irrelevant, but thousands visit our Bangalore ashram everyday, so you should only follow us”. When I said it’s not about popularity, she got angry and told me to leave “her” house

Since that day I maintained silence. Our parents are in their 70s, and have to deal with her temper everyday. I just can’t seem to understand what happened with her and I cannot share this with anyone, everyone I know has normal happy relationships with their siblings, so I really thought of writing this to you. Apologies for making it so long.

I can understand your pain. She has come under the influence of hostile forces as happens sometimes when there is a premature turning and the rest of the nature is not ready.

When such an imbalance occurs then the only thing that helps is quietly calling The Mother’s Name or putting Savitri recording in and around her atmosphere. Logic and reasoning doesn’t work. Some mild medication may help her become calmer. You may discuss this with someone locally available for the same.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Sir, Sri Aurobindo talks about the descent of peace, light, force while doing above-head concentration. he also speaks about higher planes of consciousness, e.g., higher mind, intuitive mind, etc., and the ascent of consciousness into these planes. What is the correlation between these two explanations? 😊🙏🏻🌀🌸

Ascent means that the consciousness begins to operate in a new mode. It is somewhat like a child going from school into graduation wherein he understands the same subject differently. Thus with each ascent there comes a new way of looking at everything, a new and higher mode of operating. …

I visited somebody’s house (some rich businessman) and he had, I believe, 11, 12, or 13 entrances into his house (I forgot the exact number). And each of those entrances was guarded by a small fluffy dog of the same breed (very beautiful). 💭🐍🐕‍🦺🏡🌾[…]

From your description it seems to be some place in the vital world, some benevolent being of the mid-worlds that holds wealth. The dogs are faithful guardians of the treasure while the snakes are adverse vital forces trying …
