A transformed vital is free from the clutch of desires and the strong hold of the ego that keeps it at the service of itself. As a result of this, the average human being is prone to anger, fear, greed, frustration, ambitions, lusts of various kinds, turning life into a veritable hell in pursuit of pleasure. A converted vital, on the other hand, seeks love and service of the Divine and through this bhakti and service receives the joy and force of the Divine that frees it from all depression and disappointments that afflict the average human life. The converted vital lives to serve the Divine and His purpose in the world and thereby gets more and more aligned to the Divine Will working from behind to bring us closer and closer to the Goal. The converted vital finds its joy in the Divine and hence develops a natural equanimity towards praise and blame, high and low, pleasure and pain, worldly happiness and grief,Β Since it no more seeks praise nor is afflicted by human opinions, criticisms, etc., it becomes a strong and powerful instrument of the Divine. Lusts and ambitions leave it completely since now it tastes the much greater joy, security and fulfilment that comes through its association with the Divine, His company and His service. A converted vital is freed from the grip of lower reactions of hate and anger, jealousies and fears that afflict man’s ordinary life. It lives in a state of inner peace and joy and contentment and, since it feels the Divine as its constant companion, it is free from all fear and attractions that distract us from our true purpose. Its one joy is love and service of the Divine.Β
Thus, once converted, it gets progressively transformed into a glad and uplifted, a strong and supple, a pure and perfect instrument and channel of the Divine Love and the Divine Force. Free from all fear and grief, it is always at peace and joy that is the share of all who love and serve the Divine.Β
Affectionately,
Alok Da
