AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

Sir, all this is happening!… Sir, if even Sri Aurobindo was not spared, what chance do others have? It is mind-boggling. 😶‍🌫️🙏🏻❤️‍🩹🪷

Understanding Sri Aurobindo’s accident on the 24th November 1938.

The first thing that we have to understand is that when the Divine takes up a human body and assumes a human form, He does it in earnest and not as something fake or a mock drill. That kind of deception is never the way of the Divine, who is ready and willing to descend even into the darkest abyss so that some Light can be brought there. But this descent into the abyss of darkness means a fight and a struggle. The adverse and hostile forces put up a strong resistance. That is what we see in all the stories of the Puranas and other scriptures. Still, as far as gods are concerned, since they do not have a material / physical body as we do, they are not prone to the difficulties that we have simply because of the imperfect human body and its proneness to disease and death. But when this battle is fought on the human plane, upon earth, one has to do it with the human body as Rama and Krishna did and suffered attacks upon their human body. Lord Rama was twice seriously injured in the battle with Ravana, while Sri Krishna had to flee once and later left his body after having been injured in the foot by an arrow. All these stories tell us that the way an avatara works is different from that of the gods with their subtle deathless body.

Another important thing to remember is that the Divine does not want to protect Himself or even his disciples by a series of dazzling miracles. Such things do happen in plenty, but there is a process behind it. Some human bodies and nature are quite open and receptive to the Divine Force; others are not. But this saving of others, even though the Divine does help and save, is not the main purpose of the Avatara. His main work is to change the law of nature, to change the very way the human body functions, so that a new body that is not prone to disease and accidents can emerge through an evolutionary process. This means that as a patient, working and this cannot be done by arbitrary miracles. The body and matter in general are the stronghold of the hostiles and to transform the human body needs at least a certain number of human beings if it has to be established as the next body in the long evolutionary change. If this were not the main purpose, but instead simply impress humanity into believing in God by doing some arbitrary miracles, then He need not come to earth at all! He could easily exercise His omnipotence without ever assuming a human body, in fact, much more without it than with it!! As a matter of fact, Sri Aurobindo and the Mother’s action is much more powerful now when they are no more in the limitations of the human body. But to take a human body means to take up all the difficulties associated with it, including disease, vulnerability to accidents, old age and death. It is herein that we shall find and appreciate the work of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. All luminous beings, divine manifestations, have ignored the body as something that cannot be changed. These beings themselves suffered illnesses and everything else that comes with the body. But Sri Aurobindo and the Mother took up this most difficult work and carried the physical evolution and bodily transformation as far as it could be taken, since it is only with this that the permanent solution to earth’s misery can come. A psychological and inner transformation can make us rise above suffering, even beyond physical pain, but it cannot prevent old age, accidents, disease and death as a possibility. They have done what they had to do. It is upto us now to open more and more to their Force and be consecrated instruments for carrying this earthly evolution as far as each one of us is destined to be part of it until the red line of evolution is crossed and a new body appears, making it possible to lead a divine life in a divine body.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Alok da, I was going through this work by the philosopher Descartes called Rules for the Direction of the Mind. So much of this work is about how to better purify the various human faculties of sense perception, memory, judgment, imagination, etc., so that one can observe minute facts of nature with precision and without prejudiced universal presuppositions and arrive at a true universal knowledge, which is arrived at only after mastery of minute particulars. 🇮🇳🔬📖🌄[…]

Certainly the Hindus knew the various means of purifying the mind and intelligence and, during the heydays of ancient India, the Vedic period and even much later, they did turn it both inwards and outwards. That is how they discovered such wonderful things which included plastic surgery, an elaborate pharmacopeia, warcraft and deadly weapons, principles of politics and administration, rules of mathematics and chemistry, linguistics and …

Sir, is whatever happens with us is always for our best? 🙏🏻🌼

The Mother has given a very beautiful and complete answer to this.

‘Is it really the best that always happens?… It is clear that all that has happened had to happen: it could not be otherwise—by the universal determinism it had to happen. But we can say so only after it has happened, not before. For the problem of the very best that can happen is an individual problem, whether the individual be a nation or a single human being; and all depends upon the personal attitude. If, in the presence of circumstances…
