AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Please accept my sincere regards. I have never been able to fully understand what this world truly is. Yet amidst this crowd, this noise, and this illusion, finding God perhaps is the most difficult journey of all. Sometimes it feels as though He exists everywhere, and at other times, it seems an entire lifetime may pass in the search for Him. 🌍✨🙏🏻

In its essence, this world and all other worlds- in fact, the whole creation is nothing but a manifestation of the Divine who is the Source, Origin and Core of everything. But the manifestation takes place through many layers and players that emerge one by one as the form makers or the architects and builders and masons and carpenters who are here to execute the Divine Will in creation. These are the various gods and the titans and countless other beings who are here to execute the Divine Will and make the manifestation more and more perfect. Picture this as an author who feels moved by a creative urge to write a cosmic poem, let’s say the Mahabharata. The creative urge is actually a certain intensity of delight but in its expression it must pass through the mind and brain and the hands, finger, pen, all supported with the energy system through the heart and lungs and every cell. Each of these has to work in perfect harmony and in complete submission to the Divine Impulsion. Each will have its own share of delight in the process and its own challenges through which it must navigate. So too the world can be compared to a cosmic poem impelled by the delight inherent in the Divine to manifest what is unformed, unexpressed. All the countless beings in different worlds and man himself is one of the players, or the builders through whom the Divine Will and the Delight is operating to manifest.

Now what happens if, in any collective work, individuals begin to think about their little selfish gains and advantages. Then the working starts getting distorted and may even collapse.

Now this freedom, however partial and relative, is given to each element of the creation. This is because the Divine is in everything and freedom helps creation to become conscious of the Divine and thereby share the delight. Automatons may be perfect like machines but are unconscious and hence they are devoid of growth into the divine possibility as well as of the delight of creation.

We too, if we remain unconscious of the Divine and live mechanically, fall into tamas and are cut off from the delight of the Divine. But by growing conscious, offering all we do to the Divine, we grow into our divine possibility and share the delight.

In short, this world is a progressive manifestation of the Divine Delight. We don’t experience it as such because of attachments and desires and expectations, themselves the product of ignorance and ego. All depression and unhappiness therefore is a sign of acute egoism, an excessive concern about oneself. If instead we could be busy with the work given to us, do it sincerely as an offering to the Divine, then we shall soon feel nearer to the Divine and feel His Presence always.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

The idea of living for the Divine, becoming an instrument of the Divine, must change into a living aspiration for the Divine. It is aspiration, the intense seeking in the heart which converts the idea and mental seeking into a real and a living force of realising it.
