AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I have been noticing something lately. Whenever I look at Sri Aurobindo’s photo for a while, I start feeling drowsy. This also happens sometimes when I read His writings. However, this does not happen to me with the Mother’s photos or writings. Is this a common experience? What could be the reason for this? 📷🕊️

It is not an uncommon experience. It is because Sri Aurobindo represents the supreme Knowledge in its deepest, highest sense and in the beginning, the mind is unaccustomed to it and hence, it enters the state of Sushupti, deep Yogic sleep.

The Mother, on the other hand, represents the supreme Power, especially in its aspect of Love; hence the effect is different. With Sri Aurobindo there is supreme security and Peace; hence one sleeps. With the Mother there is Victory and Ananda; hence one is active.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
