Is it scientifically possible to invent instruments to detect and transmit these subtle sensory principles? I would love to hear your thoughts on this when you have time.
The two primary aspects of the Divine are Light and Sound. That is why the two original faculties are Drsti and Shruti, Darshana and Shravan. Light is the first and Sound, Nada is the very first stir of creation. The other three tanmatras emerge as modifications of the original vibration of Nada. Even in terms of Godhead, we have these two as the primary, Agni (light and sight) and then Vayu (sound and hearing). All the other tanmatras are the result of the modification of these two or more specifically of the Sound, Shabad or the primal Vibration. Being the original and most powerful, it is relatively easier to discover them than the others, that is smell, taste and touch, that are secondary modifications and hence relatively weak. However, there are subtle faculties in the inner being that correspond to the other senses as well and can be sensed if the yoga has opened the doors of the inner senses.
