AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I have a doubt. Sri Aurobindo mention that integral yoga has three transformation, psychic, spiritual and supramental. There are many saint’s who has realized psychic transformation (such as Chaitanya, Anandamayi ma etc). After psychic realization can they feel spiritual and supramental transformation or not? Another question is what is this spiritual and supramental transformation and how it proceeds the Sadhak’s sadhana🤔?

What they have achieved is not psychic and spiritual transformation but psychic realization and certain experiences in the spiritual realm, mostly in the spiritual mind, such as realization of the Self, experiences on the intuitive planes, certain revelations etc. This is different from transformation which implies a radical change in the fields of lower nature as a result of and influence of the psychic and spiritual realizations.

To make it clearer, there are these three things. Experiences mean coming in contact (direct or indirect) with the soul or realms beyond the mind. This contact takes place in the domain where these truths reside. Realisation means being established in these realms. Thus for example psychic experience and realisation means knowing oneself immortal and a portion of the Divine and hence no more mistaking oneself for the limited ego personality. It leads to a surge of intense bhakti and faith and surrender. But this does not necessarily mean a change of the lower elements. But psychic transformation would mean luminous Godward thoughts in the mind, sweetness of Divine Love in the heart, refinement of all emotions, passions and movements of life turning them Godwards. Even a change in the body so that it makes the right movement and is open to the Divine Influence.

The past Yogis didn’t know about these things, these distinctions, let alone supramental transformation etc because their seeking for God was limited to personal mukti and at best helping others gain this liberation. They never thought of changing the nature, in fact considered it impossible. If you read their life in detail you will see what it means.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Regarding the Four Aspects of the Mother, Alok da, I sense a parallel in Sri Aurobindo’s evaluation of various poets in which they excel and in which they lack. Poets like Keats have a lyrical sweetness and beauty but lack vital power and raw force, which a poet like Browning has. 📜✒️😊🙏🏻🪷[…]

Yes. Not only in poetry as you have rightly pointed out, but in everything, in the least atom and grain of sand one can see the working of the four aspects and the Knowledge and Power of the Divine Mother hidden behind it. ..

Today evening while meditating on mother’s organ music on fairy dance, firstly I saw a living mountain having two big eyes and it was seeing all around with those eyes and then a number appeared again and again in that vision it is a number 349 what does it’s means sir.

The living mountain is the physical consciousness under the influence of the Psychic aspiration. 349 perhaps means the 3 lower and 4 higher planes that are embedded or involved within the physical consciousness represented by number 9. The dream implies that your physical consciousness is open to the Divine Influence.
