Yes, it is always best to read them directly. No interpretation can ever do justice or be a replacement for the direct reading. The original works of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother are available through SABDA, Pondicherry. You can go to their website and check the details. Many of these works are available as soft copies that can be downloaded and read, for example, at Auromaa.
As to interpretations, selected passages from Sri Aurobindo’s writings have been explained by the Mother, which is incorporated in the Collected Works of the Mother (CWM).
