AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Gita 9-25: They who worship the gods go to the gods, to the (divinised) Ancestors go the Ancestor-worshippers, to elemental spirits go those who sacrifice to elemental spirits; but My worshippers come to Me. My questions: 1) What is meant by the (divinised) Ancestors?🛞🕉️🪈🦚

Divinised has been added to the word ancestors wrongly because it is believed that after death and crossing the vital world the ancestors enter the higher realms.

2) “to elemental spirits go those who sacrifice to elemental spirits”: what do we mean by elemental spirits? And is it a fall from human births? I was believing that once a human birth is attained, generally there is never a fall?

Elemental beings are nature spirits that dwell in forests, rivers, mountains etc.

So after death one goes where one has faith in and hence is naturally drawn towards the beings one has worshipped. This is after death and for a short period but not about rebirth. These are temporary resting places of the human soul in its long evolutionary journey through lives.

“to the (divinised) Ancestors go the Ancestor-worshippers” What does this mean, because by the time a person (who was worshipping his ancestors) dies, his ancestors must have already taken re-births in different human bodies ? Where does the person go then ?

Quite so. Perhaps in the origin it meant all the souls trapped and struggling in the vital world. Later perhaps praying for one’s own ancestors started which is kind of absurd not only because of the rebirth factor but also because even if it was required once why does it need to be repeated every year even if none has died during this period! But logic doesn’t work with blind tradition. The only purpose it perhaps serves is to remember those who have passed away with the hope of continuing his legacy.

Alok Da

I read this little passage from The Mother. I want to know whether Sri Aurobindo is talking about Radha or the Hladini Shakti here. If not, who is the Power of the Mother mentioned here?: 📖😊🙏🏻🌄🌼[…]

Fortunately this question was asked to Sri Aurobindo though in different words. We have a clear, concise and complete answer from him on this issue. The letter is as quoted below.

‘In the Chandi the names of the four Cosmic Powers of the Mother—Maheshwari, Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, Mahasaraswati—are mentioned along with others, but the name Radha is not mentioned. This is a clear proof of the fact that when the Chandi was composed the Radha-Power was not manifested to the vision of the saints and that the Chandi mentions…

Today I had a remarkable dream. I felt that something profoundly spiritual had happened to India. It seemed that Mother India, the Divine Feminine Power, had become firmly established in the nation, and that a deep realization had awakened in the collective consciousness of the country. 🗺️😊🙏🏻🪷🌄[…]

This is not just a dream but a dream vision. It is true to the details. Yes, Mother India is rising to reclaim Her Glory and redeem the world. The other woman is clearly the anti-divine forces whose time has come. They are angry at the rise of India’s glory and know …

In her prayer of May 17, 1914, Mother writes, “One day thou wilt be my head but for the moment turn thy gaze towards the earth.” When a disciple enquired what the phrase “thou wilt be my head” means, She answered that “The head is the original conceiving Consciousness. “Could you simplify the meaning of all this a little further for me? 📖😊🙏🏻🌼

Head is the hub that conceives whereas heart is the hub that impels towards action.

What the Mother seems to be experiencing here, in this prayer, is to withdraw from everything including all action. She wants to be completely one with the pure Consciousness in its origin. But the command for her is…
