AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Hi sir, my nerves often get overwhelmed by strong emotions. When I feel afraid or angry, my nerves get overwhelmed extremely shaken up. Sometimes even when I have to perform in a musical instrument, my hands get so shaky that I start making a lot of mistakes. People have pointed this out to me. Perhaps other people also feel afraid and nervous, but then my nerves get incomparably more affected😨. Are there any practices that are known to help increase one’s nervous strength and equality?

You should do regular deep breathing exercises and Nadi Shuddhi pranayam. It calms the nerves. Even merely observing the breath has a calming effect on the nerves.

Soft soothing music also has a calming healing effect on the nervous system.

Regular exercises, both vigorous as well as asanas helps strengthen the nerves.

Learning to step back before speaking or doing any activity and offering the a action to the Divine is a beautiful long term remedy.

Finally, taking the Divine Name is the excellent perfect antidote to anxieties and fears and nervousness.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
