AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER

How to combine aspiration for the Divine with so many interests of life, like music, dance, the value of deep emotional bonding with people, enjoying the varied genres of movies that seem fantastic, competence in the work field, etc etc.? 🎶💃🌿🙏[…]

Are these only some vital / higher vital and mind and physical activities and must put them aside with Sri Krishna’s saying… “there is no subject or thing greater than me in this world?” Seeking the Divine means seeking Light, Truth etc? Don’t even know what they mean! What are the things to be sought in alignment with psychic aspiration for the Divine rather than these many diverse attractions and interests that are everywhere around?

There are two ways of finding the Divine. One is to cut oneself off from all the various activities of the world in one’s seeking for the Divine. This is the narrow and shorter, but one kind of extreme path. The other path is to find the Divine everywhere and in everything. It is a wider, more difficult but also more complete path. In this wider path one remembers the Divine, offers all one’s actions and movements to the Divine. One even goes deep into the experience to touch the Divine Core. Thus one watches a movie to understand something about human nature and the divine element hidden within it. Of course, it does not mean an indiscriminate watching of any and every movie. Choices are indispensable, but the choices are not between one activity and another but between two different levels of expression in the same activity. We can easily experience in songs and music wherein some easily connect us to the Divine element, others do not. Same with dance, art, profession, Science, even politics and finances. It means trying to look at everything differently as to what takes us closer to the Divine and what does not. So too with human relationships. Certain relationships help us lift upwards; others degrade us. This is the discernment one can make and then go through all the various different aspects of life.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

I feel the pressure on my crown when I do meditation. Also, is this a common occurrence? This crown thing? It appears now and again randomly and gains momentum during meditation. Meditations have literally changed. It feels like as though I took a subtle bath(a rather risky turn of phrase ) every time I meditate. Why is this happening to me? When does the Force choose you? 🧘✨🕊️

Yes. Pressure upon the crown takes place before the full opening.

Many, many, many experiences come. It is best not to get too much into analysing, understanding them else one can easily get distracted or the ego may get puffed up. It is like getting delayed by the scenery on the way. Stay focused on giving oneself more and more to the Divine, growing in faith, sincerity, love and surrender,…

Someone asked me whether Sri Aurobindo has adopted the ideas from Hegel and Kant. How can I reply to him? Please help me and refer to some books.  📚🧠✨

People who make such remarks are unfortunately very poorly informed about either Bergson and Kant let alone Sri Aurobindo whom they have certainly not read.

Sri Aurobindo’s major works include two treatises on the Vedas including a deep and intricate study of Vedic philology, the major Upanishads with a detailed commentary on the Isha and Kena, detailed essays on the Gita, Foundations of Indian Culture. His two most important works has, one, the story of Savitri as a base; the second,..
