AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I am sorry to say this, but in general, your generation is the most confused gen. It was the first gen where, in general, the majority of middle-class families got their first college grads. In doing so, they left home for studies in urban areas and did services in a modern environment. 👨🏼‍🦳🧔🏼‍♀️👨🏻‍👩🏻‍👧🏻‍👦🏻🏡🌷[…]

Although they were generally rooted in rural but in their middle life, they are now urbanized. Now the problem comes when they want old things in a modern way, for eg, they want their daughter-in-law educated and even now working, which is good, but imagine if she made some judgmental comments on them like daughters do at their home, imagine the Mahabharata. I think this gen was the first prototype that came from the Mother’s lab after that Golden Day. Your thoughts, please, and also some remedies to at least maintain peace at home.

Personally, I never identified with any generation or the social milieu then or now. I believe one should think independently, reflect, discern and then make conscious choices. Society, then as well as now, is always behind the individual and in each period of Time there are individuals who are regarded as rebels then but open ways for the future. I did not conform to the social standards then, nor do I now. Each society has its own strengths and weaknesses; none is perfect, but all are in some way striving towards some kind of perfection according to their understanding.

But if you ask me in general, I would agree that today’s generation is certainly better than the previous century. A lot has changed for good in the first quarter of this century itself. What I appreciate especially is that there is a lot more frankness and a lot less hypocrisy, which is so beautiful to see. There is little or no respect for authority and genuine respect for authenticity. There is a challenging of the old stereotypes and a seeking out, even experimenting with, new ways. All this is disconcerting to the older generation since it threatens their comfort zones. But then, how else will evolution happen? Certainly, the new specimens from the Divine Laboratory called the earth are beginning to emerge, since the sixties, but especially since the beginning of this millennium.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Alok da, one increasingly concerning trend that one’s observing in indian society right now is there’s a feverish tendency to inquire about one’s range of earnings. The moment the so-called elders meet a young man who’s just into two to three years of graduation, the very first question they ask is “What’s your Package?”. 👴🏼👨🏼‍💼💼🏢🥀[…]

It is not Darwinism but copy-catism if one wants to coin a word. The reason however is twofold. Partly it is due to the strong awakening of Rajas in a society that was, for a rather long time oppressed, supressed and made to feel low, in one word tamas. This is a resurgence of excessive rajas which will sooner or later stabilise and, given the …
