AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I have observed that my aspiration was at its peak when I started walking the path of yoga consciously. Over decades, the intensity of the aspiration has declined, almost evaporated. Sadhana seems to be now in auto-pilot mode, not driven by aspiration. Rejection and Surrender continue to figure as frequent necessities, which means there is still a long way to go. But neither is there much of an aspiration, nor any anxiety to get somewhere. Just go on doing what my limited capacity allows, and leave the rest to the Mother. If She wants, I can go on serving her for many lives to come. That is the only prayer, rather than an aspiration. Now the question: is this weakening or near-disappearance of the aspiration a normal phenomenon?

It is quite common for the intensity of aspiration to somewhat fade over a period of time. It is partly because the fire naturally touches the other layers that are not so open and receptive and tends to obscure it. This is especially true of the physical consciousness that tends to obscure the flame. That is one reason why the Mother was so keen on awakening the latent body consciousness. This is one of the difficulties as physical age catches up.

Secondly, and I think this is possibly one of the reasons, is that some of us who are moved by the urge to help unwittingly take in a lot of things from others and that affects us in number of ways including the dulling of aspiration.

What helps most is utter abandon and surrender to the Mother, a giving up of oneself completely to Her, offering oneself to Her and leaving everything, including the charge of sadhana in Her hands. Another thing that helps is a daily reading of Savitri and Prayers and Meditations as well as writing a Prayer everyday and as and when one feels inspired. A little bit of isolation for some time also helps. I am sure She knows Her child and Her Love is always with you. This is a phase that will pass away.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

Dada, how to stop thinking? I mean, continuous thoughts are coming and going regarding useless things. Sri Aurobindo has said we have to watch thoughts and not attach any importance to them, but how should we do that? Or how to calm our minds and think about our Master’s only?🌊πŸŒͺοΈπŸ€―πŸƒπŸ§

While stopping of thoughts completely is not an easy thing, it is very much possible to direct the flow consciously towards an object. Thus, you can consciously let your thoughts run around the idea of God, or of a Divine…

Kindly let me know if the understanding below is incorrect: As SAT, CHIT, and ANANDA are the 3 aspects of PARABRAHMAN, meant for the manifestation in our universe, so are the infinite other aspects of PARABRAHMAN meant for the manifestation in many other universes.
