AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I sometimes feel that money is important too, and if I continue with commerce… MBA and job, then only I’ll be able to fulfill this wish. The mind is very bad. It keep questioning. Sometimes it get satisfied with my nature and choose a work like philosophy professor, sometimes it looks at my parents and wish to get any job asap to become independent, and sometimes it wants money😥. […]

A lot of money to fulfill my passions, like buying a bike, travelling all of India, taking my parents to various countries, buying cameras, telescopes to sneak into the galaxy, sometimes I feel won’t the mother give me everything if I really need all this? Or if my needs are really imp? But then it comes to my mind, we have to work and get a job on our own! Passive surrender is not good?

It is quite natural at your age. Best is to go through sanyama which means to regulate rather than nigragaha or forced repression. Take the path of inner and outer balance, avoiding the extremes, as given in the Gita. Go through life but know that you belong to the Divine Mother alone. Receive what comes to you but know that you are a trustee and everything belongs to the Mother. Do not covet or try to grab or snatch and possess. Be firm in the practice of equanimity and be not afraid of life and its gifts of joy and sorrow, success and failure. Above all be steadfast in faith in the Divine Mother. Serve Her and love Her and shrink not from life and love.

Will I even do anything in the future, or will I keep figuring out what to do, and the time will fly?

Don’t spend time in thinking. Act and do. For the path becomes clearer as we walk. Believe in yourself and act.

It’s really tough. I have emailed you a lot about this thing. I’m really dumb about my future career, Alok da.

Nothing is tough if we have the faith and will.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

But there is the possibility of a sleep in which you enter into an absolute silence, immobility and peace in all parts of your …

Sir, you have quoted “Ahimsa Paramo Dharma” incorrectly. That is not for Gods/Deities. It is a foundational principle for normal people to follow to attain Moksha. It’s not at the cost of other values. Most of the Vedic Gurus discredit this line of thought(from Shraman padhatti). It’s sad but true. 🥸🕊️🪷🌄

I am not sure how this impression came across that this saying is about gods and deities. It is indeed, as you say, one of the main foundational principles of Sanatana Dharma, yet one of the least understood as far as its practice is concerned. …
