What Sri Aurobindo had was an individual personal realisation. It is called as the Supramental descent. What happened on the 29th February 1956 was the opening of the possibility of a collective Supramental realisation. The Supramental consciousness descending from above was no longer now an individual realisation. It has triggered the emergence of the Supermind hidden in matter, brought it openly into the earth-play, become generalised in the earth atmosphere and hence its action became free and direct. Hence, the day, 29th February 1956, is remembered as the Supramental Manifestation and not as the Supramental descent, which is limited to an individual achievement. The 29th February 1956 event is the day when the Supramental Manifestation began working upon the earth in general, as it was now permanently established and fixed upon earth as the leader of the next evolutionary march. Individual descents are a promise, the Supramental is the fulfilment of the promise for all.Β
