AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

In case I can’t find an online study group, how do I create a study plan for myself? I have the following books physically (apart from Savitri and some compilations):1.Questions and Answers(1954) 2.The Synthesis of Yoga 3.The Life Divine 4.The Human cycle, Ideal of Human unity, War and Self Determination 5.Foundations of Indian Culture 6.Letters on Yoga Vol 2

I have read a few chapters/pages from each of the above over the past 5 years, but I could never read any cover to cover. My attention span has reduced from increased usage of social media, and also when I’m home after work, I feel lazy and can’t bring myself to do an intensive task such as reading Mother and Sri Aurobindo with complete attention.  I want to change this. Please give me some tips to be consistent in this practice.

One has to push one’s will is all I can suggest. Fix a time, once a week, and sit at that time with the book, even if you are able to read only few lines. Even if the mind wanders, just sit during that time. Start with 15 minutes when you push or pull up yourself to sit with the Mother. Read a few lines, look at Her photograph, try to remember Her. Slowly increase it to twice or thrice a week, then 15 minutes daily until half an hour with the Divine Mother becomes natural to you. Rest will follow in due course of time.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

I’m curious to know what place Sri Aurobindo would have given to Personality Classifications like Myers-Briggs, Socionics, etc. I understand that he spoke of psychoanalysis as an incomplete and partially ignorant tool of understanding the mind. 📖🧑‍🤓📚[…]

There was a time, long back, when I read many of these things. Found all of them not only grossly inadequate and limited but also missing the core of human nature, the person behind the personality. It is very much like the story of blind men searching for the elephant in the room and drawing their own conclusions about what the elephant likely is.

If a person is elevating their consciousness and developing themselves into a new consciousness, what about those who have already attained Liberation (Mukti) and have become one with the Supreme Being? According to Sri Aurobindo’s yoga, what is their status? Will they also take on the new consciousness?✨🧘🕊️🌅

Identifying with the Supreme Being is rare. What is generally called as Mukti is departing from the cycle of birth and death into a state of Silence or Nirvana and then merging or losing all one’s individual truth that the….

Sir, the main problem with depressive medicines is that they make the body and mind always sleepy, dull and lethargic. To be honest, I don’t actually know as to how and where to progress on the Spiritual path and in Studies. Even the simplest of things, I am finding it difficult to face off. Really don’t know what to do ahead.🌧️🧑‍⚕️💊🫠

This was true of earlier medicines. But now there are much safer medicines with fewer side effects if any especially of drowsiness. There is nothing wrong in taking them and bounce back on your feet in a few weeks at …
