AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I’ve tried reading books📚 multiple times, but I always give up because I find it boring and lack the patience for it. I’d rather watch a movie 🎞️instead.

Nothing wrong with watching a movie but it is good to do some reading everyday.  It is largely a question of interest and individual capacity as well. Some people find it difficult to form concepts or images and associate reading with these. Movies do not require it. The images are provided and concepts expressed through the characters. This is the difference as to why movies have such a wide appeal. It is like serving a cooked meal rather than providing raw material and leave it to each person to cook his own way. The first helps one to innovate, the second makes it easy by providing a ready dish. Both have their own advantage and disadvantage but today in a fast pace age and relative impatience, movies have a clear edge.

Perhaps you could read just a little each day and slowly increase it. With some people it also helps to read aloud. In any case reading a little, even if it be a passage, is a good habit and helpful depending of course upon what is it that you are reading and what kind of movies you are watching.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

It is not Darwinism but copy-catism if one wants to coin a word. The reason however is twofold. Partly it is due to the strong awakening of Rajas in a society that was, for a rather long time oppressed, supressed and made to feel low, in one word tamas. This is a resurgence of excessive rajas which will sooner or later stabilise and, given the …
