AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

My sister is a medical student and her college is introducing them to Transcendental Meditation of Maharshi Mahesh Yogi as a regular practice to do for 4.5 years. She is not a spiritual aspirant, and I am not sure if this practice is safe as I think they use some modifies beej mantras to relax the mind. Is it safe or should I discourage her to enroll in it?🧘✨🕯️🌊

It is a kind of beej mantra to relax the mind. Generally, this kind of meditation should not be of any harm. Whether to do it or not should be left entirely to her choice. Nothing should be enforced. If she wishes she can, during the process, chant inwardly simply the safest of all, AUM since the beej mantra is to be done silently. It does help to quieten the mind, nothing more.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
