AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Since I have come into the college, I hear almost all professors saying you must keep the students in control, show them the fear of punishment, basically keep them under your fear, or they will never listen to you. But it just doesn’t feel right to me. 💔👩🏼‍🏫📚👨🏼‍🎓🏫👩🏼‍🎓[…]

Plus, how can fear be a way out of something? Is there any other way to manage students? What is the right way to deal with them?

Fear is the worst way to deal with anyone. It pollutes the one who harbours it and brings the tendency to deceit and falsehood in others towards whom we project it. If students are not taking interest in what is being taught because the teachers are unable to present the subject in an interesting way. We cannot blame the students for our inadequacy.

Of course, if there is a specific student who is disturbing others, then it is best to send him out of the class. Or make him sit alone right in the front. But instilling fear is certainly not the way.

Affectionately,

Alok Da
