AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

Uncle, I wanted to ask one thing. I recently heard the mother’s organ music titled “Aspiration of the body for the divine”. I don’t know how one can aspire for the divine through the body. Is it by physical exercise like sports, the gym, or something more? Please shed some light on this.🎶🏃🪷

The first step towards awakening aspiration in the physical is to practice equanimity. One should learn to be unattached and unaffected due to changes in weather, food, various forms of physical comforts. That is the base.

Then comes exercises such as sports and games. Here one should pray and do them with the attitude of awakening the body to become an instrument of the Divine. It also implies a healthy attitude and healthy lifestyle, a balance between work and rest, activity and sleep, the type of food and exercises.

Finally, one should do physical actions consciously, dedicated to the Divine and, best, if one takes up some work or activity as service of the Divine. To work for the Divine is to pray with the body.

Affectionally,

Alok Da

Rituals and techniques are not purely …

In the Srimad Bhagavatam (10.88.8), Sri Krishna states that when He especially favors someone, He gradually takes away their material wealth and worldly support. In all mystic traditions, money has been generally regarded, not only as a bondage, but even as a curse. It ties the consciousness to very gross material pleasures. These weigh down the soul and makes the intelligence rather dull to subtler and spiritual things.
