AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

1. How can I stop getting irritated and frustrated over small things in general, and especially when someone doesn’t behave the way I expect😥?

Live in the wideness. When we are identified with the body as the self and our mind is centered around small things such as physical desires and preoccupied with outer circumstances and conditions then the consciousness narrows down and enters into a hole. It also becomes vulnerable to all the surface storms and gets easily disturbed by outer things such as changes in weather, human behavior, even petty situations like food that is not according to one’s taste and so on and so forth. But the deeper we live and the wider we grow in consciousness the freer we become and develop a natural mastery over outer circumstances.

So we must practice living within by concentrating in our heart on the Divine Presence within us and do exercises of widening such as imagining the star studded sky or the ocean. Books,  good uplifting beautiful books are another simple way of withdrawing within away from the surfaces of life as they take us into the world of ideas. Similarly staying busy with work especially work not done for one’s selfish gains and personal benefits is also a simple remedy to step out of the smallness created by the ego.

Above all not to think about or look at others but mind one’s own business. What others do or do not do is their problem. Our focus should be on the task given to us and the attitude with which we do it.

2. How can I learn to stay calm, manage my emotions better, and not let little problems disturb my peace of mind?

Try to live within. Learn to step back and see how little outer things matter, how transient and unimportant are these appearances that pass away. Seek what is lasting, permanent, true while removing much of the unnecessary clutter that unnecessarily occupies our mind space.

Take out a little time and contemplate everyday on the true purpose of your life, on what would give you lasting happiness. Sit quietly and call Peace within you, with the help of a mantra if necessary.

Read good books and do some exercises. The former uplifts the mind while the latter washes away much of the lower energies that circulate around us. Also pick up a hobby and listen to some good music.

Affectionately,

Alok Da

I am drawn to the Mother’s Teachings, and for the past couple of years spent quite some time reading and taking notes on a variety of subjects. I now feel that I have read enough and it is time for me to start living them. I am doing that, slowly and steadily, notably in work and in parenting. Also, with regards to my health, I am making efforts to regularly exercise, eat a good diet, etc. The Mother herself said this: “It is best to live a Divine teaching”. 😊🙏🏻🌸🌏[…]

I believed earlier that all of the manifested Universe is a part of the Apara Prakriti. But the Mother says that nature is infra-rational? But then I wonder whether reason is an instrument of Para Prakriti? Isn’t it too imperfect? What is the joining link of Nature with the Mother? 🌌🤔❤️‍🔥🪷

Para and Apara Prakriti are simply two different modes of working of One Consciousness-Force. In its origin it is the Conscious Power of the Divine, also called as the Shakti of the Ishwara. The knowledge in the Shakti or …
