AT THE FEET OF THE MOTHER
Ask Alok da

I want to know how to make a decision for continuing a certain kind of work ( which is not giving any result ) and letting it go … or rather how to draw a fine line between perseverance and letting go ?  Sometimes we feel that the Divine does not want us to carry it any longer… Is it our mental perception? ⚖️🤔🔎

Outer results, success or failure are no indication of whether one should continue with a work or not. The indication should come from the inmost heart. If something deep within, – not the surface emotions of course, feels the urge to continue then one should continue even if the result is a failure. In fact as a general rule outer success and failure should not be the criteria for undertaking a work. There are many instances where one did not see success during one’s lifetime, yet the work left a mark for the future. More importantly, even if it goes unrecognised yet it develops steadiness and perseverance and prepares the human being in a much better way if one goes through the experience completely. It doesn’t mean remaining indefinitely stuck with something but also not giving up prematurely without putting all the needed effort, just because success has not come one’s way.

2. Sometimes  sitting in the remembrance of the divine is what gives you utmost happiness , but this happiness fades away when you come to work or action in this world , how to carry this state always and for ever ?

Yes it is very true and happens because work externalises the consciousness and hence there is a tendency for the inner Remembrance to fade away. But with practice this difficulty can be overcome especially if one learns to work slowly and more consciously rather than rushing through or taking up too many things in hand.

Affectionately,

Sir, Sri Aurobindo talks about the descent of peace, light, force while doing above-head concentration. he also speaks about higher planes of consciousness, e.g., higher mind, intuitive mind, etc., and the ascent of consciousness into these planes. What is the correlation between these two explanations? 😊🙏🏻🌀🌸

Ascent means that the consciousness begins to operate in a new mode. It is somewhat like a child going from school into graduation wherein he understands the same subject differently. Thus with each ascent there comes a new way of looking at everything, a new and higher mode of operating. …

I visited somebody’s house (some rich businessman) and he had, I believe, 11, 12, or 13 entrances into his house (I forgot the exact number). And each of those entrances was guarded by a small fluffy dog of the same breed (very beautiful). 💭🐍🐕‍🦺🏡🌾[…]

From your description it seems to be some place in the vital world, some benevolent being of the mid-worlds that holds wealth. The dogs are faithful guardians of the treasure while the snakes are adverse vital forces trying …
